Life Is So Automatic Poem by Jacson Gelato

Life Is So Automatic

Rating: 5.0

Life is so automatic
it will push you into another day,
the morning sun will wake you
the noon will make you hungry
the evening will make you tired
the night will force you to sleep.

At the roundabout you will see
familiar friends while driving your car,
at the school junction you will allow
your children's friends to walk across
the pedestrian crossing and upkeep safety,
in the supermarket you will be hurling
things in your shopping basket hurriedly
and standing patiently at the cash counter
for your turn to come and pay for your purchases;
as you walk into your home, your wife
will be asking you so many questions
as she hands you over your mug of coffee,
finally when it is time for your drink and TV
you will finding yourself sleeping
and your cat alongside will look so equally tired.

As you wake up at the break of dawn
so many voices you will be hearing,
dad asking you to bring his medicines
mum asking you not to forget her new spectacles;
children honking asking you to hurry up
to reach them to school on time
when you are still in your pajamas, jogging around
your dog will ask you to take her for her morning walk.

And as you are ready to get your day started
a photograph on the wall of your grandfather
will compel you to glance at him as he was a soldier
who died fighting in a war that saved
your country from tyranny and devastation.
Life is so automatic, so routine
it pushes you on to the next day,
nothing changes, except a holiday, a promotion
a birth or a death and some bit of a romance.

Quite true! But you have painted a pleasant family picture where everybody is taken care of, a family where the bonds are strong. It comes out automatically in your poem! Thanks for sharing!
