Life Is Worthwhile Poem by Alla Bozarth

Life Is Worthwhile

It may be too late for many of us
to die young, but it’s never too late
to die ageless and happy.
Most especially, it’s never too late
to live agelessly, happy and well.

Wellness is relative.
We are well when we know how
to be grateful for everyone we love
and everything that’s beautiful
and all the parts that work.

We are the Great Lived Ones.
We know what triumph is,
and defeat and despair,
and especially we know
about Grace and redemption.

If we’ve taken enough risks
for love, we know how it feels
to dropp diamonds down
a black hole without even
an echo of light or response.
We also know how it feels
to give birth to a galaxy.

We know that suffering is hard work.
We also know the importance
of right remedy, and how
a dose of friendship
can shorten the night
and save the day.

May we never hesitate
to tell each other,
“You are my medicine,
my light. Seeing your smile
is reason enough to say
that life is worthwhile.”
