Life On A Lake Poem by Asma Khan

Life On A Lake

My heart is a blind traveler
with no path to light or lead
The mindless knife of time
has caused it to bleed

This is no coincidence
but I will survive the pain
I have lost my heart with no gain

I swallowed the poison of passion slowly
Your eyes told me the secret
behind this secrecy quietly

Your words portray your intentions towards me
So I color the goodbyes before you actually say

You carried me in your heart
be it a part or a while
I walked ages to get to you at this mile

We sat in the gardens of Eden and peace
with dreams folded into pockets of grease

You were beautiful and unique just like yourself
I wished to capture the moment in my heart's shelf

Don't get too close nor distant in love forever
The one who saves the heart is the most clever

Circle the moon twice before you look at me
The heart will tell you what to foresee

Every heart, prays so shall you
ask for whatever you want even it's for a few
