Life Only Gets Better Poem by Marilyn Lott

Life Only Gets Better

Did you ever notice that
So much history is found
As we take off ‘cross country
And simply drive around?

A covered bridge that was built
Well over one hundred years ago
Eventually destroyed by fire
So sad, don’t you think that’s so?

Always it’s exciting
When a windmill whirls around
Older ones are even better
As I watch and hear their sound

So beautiful a windmill is
In the early morning light
Oh yes, those treasured windmills
Are part of my traveled sights

Across the fields and meadows
My heart feels full and warm
As my memories awaken quickly
Seeing my grandparents loving home

Yes, life is full of mysteries
As well as childhood dreams
As I trudge along life’s path
It only gets better it seems!
