LIFE: Whence cometh thy purpose?

whence cometh
the purpose of life?
eating well?
casting of lots?
being strong?
being swift?
being wise?
being rich?
cometh by chance?

a single simple
toil of obedience
to the Almighty
of Heaven
of Eden
of favour
to them
in the dungeon
in the den
in the cistern
in the oven
in thence cometh
in the purpose of life

courage my soul
guard my heart
in your Almighty Creator.

Poem of the Day

poet Henry David Thoreau

My books I'd fain cast off, I cannot read,
'Twixt every page my thoughts go stray at large
Down in the meadow, where is richer feed,
And will not mind to hit their proper targe.
