Lifeless Imagination Poem by Kimberly Santistevan

Lifeless Imagination

Rating: 3.5

Am I meant to be here?
Why I am still hurt?
Why do I feel so much pain?

What if I was that young girl?
She went the way of suicide
Took her own life
She was found near a lonely road.

Maybe then
Everyone around me
Will finally stop yelling
And see that getting along
Is the only way once they are without me.

This girl that is now dead
Sounds just like me
Her story is my story.

Always wants to giggle
Trying to make the best
Of everything

Even though I did not know her
She is in my heart
She is safe from harm.

Safe from the crying
Safe from the hiding
Safe from the hurt.

That could have been me
I can’t think of how happy
She could have been if she didn’t
Take her life.

I never thought of suicide to be the way
But right now I don’t know what else to do.

So much around me
No one really knows me
From the inside out.

I do love everyone
But this pain is just
Too much for me to hide.

I will try to smile
Pretending once again
That everything is alright when it’s not.
