Light A Candle In Your Spirit- A Profound Insight On Depression Poem by Arun Maji

Everything has a whisper—
And they want to tell you their story-
their grief, their anger,
their love, their laughter.

Listen, listen deeply—
Listen what is told
Listen what is untold.

Look for words in between lines
Below lines and above lines.

If you suffer depression, then depression also wants to tell you something—
"You know Harry, it has been long that you are carrying me. You know- I hurt you, I hurt you badly. Yet you are so obsessed with me; you don't want me to go. I have forgiven myself, I have forgiven you. Why don't you forgive yourself? And forgive me? And then, you can live your life peacefully!

Because of me, you can't focus on your present moment. Your peace, your serenity, your well-being— they all live in your present moment. If you keep staring at me, fighting with me; how would you have your peace?

I know it's difficult to let me go. I might have caused wound within you. I am sorry I did that to you. But now, please forgive me, and let me go.
Be free Harry, be free."

Life is no more than a blink. Won't human try having peace in that tiny life? Why human would suffer again and again?

None wants to suffer, none wants to shed tears. But wanting and achieving are two different things. human can't eliminate suffering, but he certainly can take teeth out of it.

Suffering also have a whisper. It tell you-
"Harry, I know- I tore your heart, killed your love, burnt your home, erased your dream. But why I did what I did?

I have a bigger plan for you- I want you to shine like a star. This was my effort to test you— how strong you could grow! I wanted to see, when you are burnt- whether you would spread fragrance like a rose, or spread foul smell like a dead plant!


Aren't you surprised- though you were burnt heavily— yet you spread fragrance like a jasmine? That is exactly what I do. I show you how strong you are. You would never know it, until I subject you to my cruelty. Do you remember what Darwin said? He said— we suffer, we suffer terribly; but we don't suffer in vain".

If you want to be a mountain size man, you have to suffer sea size pain. If you want to be a star size man, you have to suffer a galaxy size pain."

If you have dark room and you want to remove that darkness, what you do? You light a candle in your dark room. Then, the darkness goes off. But if you keep fighting darkness and never bother lighting a candle in your room, darkness never goes off. So, if you want to remove darkness in your mind, you must light a candle in your spirit.

If you keep fighting depression, you can't win over it. But if you light a candle of hope, love and forgiveness, your depression disappears.

O man
it's too dark within you,
please light a candle there.
