Lighthouse On The Hill Poem by Colin Coplin

Lighthouse On The Hill

The lighthouse on the hill only warned me
Only warned me of the danger, not the thrill
Of love with you, girl

The shipwrecks along your coast surround you like a necklace
Like a necklace of frozen ghosts
Headstones to all those who came before
Looking for love with you, girl

And your song serenaded and enchanted me
Wove it's spell upon my heart
Bringing me nearer, while tearing me apart
I lay strapped to the mast
Always guided by your lighthouse on the hill
And love with you, girl

And I had storms, that rose like mountains, that I had to sail
And there were seas, that swirled like whirlpools, to suck me down
All the while hope shone, like the sun, in the first weeks of spring
I ploughed on, spellbound
Always guided by your lighthouse on the hill
And love with you girl

The lighthouse on the hill only warned me
Only warned me of the danger, not the thrill
Of love with you

And your song serenaded and enchanted me
Wove it's spell upon my heart
Bringing me nearer, while tearing me apart
I lay strapped to the mast
Always guided by your lighthouse on the hill
Looking for love with you, girl
