Listen, Don't Look Poem by Sana Olivia Hernandez

Listen, Don't Look

Rating: 5.0

There is silence,
Save for my breath.
A million thoughts and zero words.
My mouth is open, my tongue won't move.

I don't want you to see me.
Look away.
Look away from my eyes,
Do not pierce me with your stare.

With my own I plead you won't glare.
Don't point,
Don't push,
Just let me speak my piece.

There's a sound.
I?
We?
You?
Love?
Death?
Breath.
Another breath.

Slowly
...
Slowly I speak.

Softly

Subtle words of salutations.
Careful words of consideration,
Gentle giggles and joyful joking.
The crack of ice being broken.

I can speak.
I am here.
You can see me.

Nice to meet you,
Please open your eyes.
