Little Daniella Poem by Mitchell Birch

Little Daniella

A strand of hair hits the floor
Floating elegantly, only to fall.
Walked on by, not a soul knows
She cries each night whilst the wind blows
To muffle the sounds of sorrow.

Once a bundle of joy
People lit up as she passed
Eyes glistening in the reflection of a boy
Little Daniella, naive in the hands of trust
Who would've thought that boy, your brother
Would be the one to crumble your world into dust?

Years on, the time has come for angst
You sip from the bottle of apathy
Until you smile and dance once again
It doesn't matter what you do, 'long as your happy.

Through intoxication the jolly girl, no longer dead
Suppression of the sober thoughts, would make her strong she said
I joined her on an adventure, of self destruction and suicide
By the rules, we did not abide.

I didn't set eyes on little Daniella until many more years went by
The strength was gone, weak in the eye
Shattered by his twisted temptation and selfishness
The girl i loved, i wish she would've cared less.
