Live To Tell Poem by Paul Abucean

Live To Tell

Behold! Past mounts and valleys,
past galaxies, unbowed,
the road goes on for ever.
The road.

And farther than this roving road
nobody travels.
Nobody so relentlessly
unravels.

We, fellow traveler, are wee.
How wee? None fathoms.
Perhaps we stem from Adam's
lesser atoms.

Perhaps we have a tail to tell
- or to be tolled -
and we can only tell it well
when cold.

Thus, torn between Death's dagger
and Life - this other bandit -
we live to tell the story
and die to understand it.
