I like to live here all alone
Just me the telly and me phone
No-one to tell me what to do
Or moan when I buy something new
I also like a home that's clean
Where a trace of dirt cannot be seen
Unlike the time that I can unveil
I shared a home with a certain male
The toilet bowl he'd always miss
Every time he did a *iss
He'd leave the loo seat down ensuring
It would always get spattered with urine
Living now in my nice clean kingdom
I do regale my new found freedom
No more cooking for someone ungrateful
Or being called names that are so hurtful
No-one to turn my heating low
And introduce a cold air flow
I like a nice warm habitat
And to be in control of the thermostat
So, if a bloke with bags came knocking
The door with bolts I will be locking
He'll not get in, not ever-never
'Cause living alone is the best thing ever
So really nice and so realistic. I have seen this situation to my mom whos been separated to my stepdad. Yoy wrtting is kind a bit awesome to me cause its not a copycat or pretending for some kind of poetry. It is your own poetry style and creation. You have done it so nice.
:) a humorous write, with a truth in it.. thanks for sharing, Annette - and keep on posting.. ;) Cheers
First, let me extend a very warm welcome to you on the poetry Forum. Thanks for sharing an amazing poem. About 45 years back, I also had a somewhat similar experience but then I shifted to a separate room and regaled the freedom like you did. Enjoyed reading it. Thanks.
My husband passed away just over two years ago, and since then I have disliked living on my own, but your poem reminds me that there are advantages and made me smile. Good one.
