Loneliness Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Loneliness

In the distance beyond a shimmering lake
is a small cottage with a candle burning
An elderly woman with a heart that aches
has solitary thoughts that keep returning

Her fate is one of loneliness and lament
All those who were her reason for living
have vanished and are no longer present
A burning light within her soul is flickering

Looking out the window…feeling abandoned
wondering what her toiling has been for
praying to God…her steadfast companion
In the warmth of His Glory… she is not ignored
