Loneliness Poem by Grace Burke

Loneliness

Softly, ever so softly, I walk the night
I lurk in the darkness
Afraid to be seen or heard
Afraid of being stepped on, for I am loneliness.

But my heart cries out from within
For friendship and love
But I am true loneliness
Born lonely, I'll die lonely.

Never shall I know the feeling of friendship
Never shall I know what it is to love
Oh how I want to be forever free
But I have been confined for eternity to loneliness.
