Lonesome Night

Rain falls
Lighting flashes
Thunder clashes
Here in the desert
there is no Whippoorwill
to sing the lonesome song

Falling victim to my mind
I sit here wondering
if you're as lonesome as I?
The Night knows no company
Longing for your company
I write the words for a lonesome
whippoorwill

This poor souls longs
to be set free
from this prison in my mind
Where thoughts run rampant

Looking to the sky
Only darkness do I see
The occasional streak of lighting
Even the Moon is too lonely
to show its face
So I retire to the lonely
place of my mind

On this lonely night

Poem of the Day

poet Helen Hunt Jackson

The month of carnival of all the year,

And spend whole seasons on a single day.
The spring-time holds her white and purple dear;
