Look Back Poem by Ann McKinley

Look Back

you have come so far
look at where you are
compared to where you were
your beautiful
your kind
you have all seeing eyes
you laugh and you love
remember when you were bitter?
so mad at the world?
do you even remember why you were?
No?
I didnt think so
Youve learned to except what is
and change what you can
you know right for wrong
and to you, its easier to be good then bad
back then it was easier to be bad then good
youve learned some lessons
and now you stride with pride
instead of you head hung low
your chin is up
even your smile is brighter
What was isnt always what will be
What you saw you may never see again
and in some cases
thats a good thing
because look at where we are now
we are loved
we are takin care of
your taking responsability
and trying to make things right
your not looking for a fight
instead of going on impulse and lust
you think and want love
looking back on who I was
Vs. who I am today
I am a stranger in my own skin
