Lord, Don’t Let It Stay Poem by Marilyn Lott

Lord, Don’t Let It Stay

It blew in like a furious monster
Shockingly icy cold
But it didn’t take very long
This storm was getting old

Lights out, trees cracked
Hardship made its way
Through the state with vengeance
Oh Lord, don’t let it stay

It had no respect at all
For human or for beast
It could have been more gentler
Not quite so angry at least

That artic air came whirling
Blew ice through everything
It was almost unbearable
The birds wouldn’t even sing

But, I guess it goes with winter
Not a thing that can be done
So tuck yourself in warmly, folks
Until that springtime sun!
