Lord... Of The Remote Control Poem by Mervyn Graham

Lord... Of The Remote Control

In the kingdom of comfort, where couches reign supreme,
There dwells a potent monarch, in shadows unseen.
With a scepter of plastic, and buttons of might,
He rules over channels, in the still of the night.

Behold the Lord of the Remote Control,
Master of channels, with power untold.
From sitcoms to dramas, to games of the court,
He navigates worlds with a simple retort.

With a flick and a press, he commands the screen,
Summoning laughter or tears with a gleam.
He wields his dominion with effortless grace,
In his realm of pixels, he finds his place.

It navigates seas of endless choice,
Guiding voyagers with its voice.
From sports arenas to newsrooms bright,
It holds the power of day and night.

Through lands of adventure and realms of the past,
He journeys unfettered, his kingdom amassed.
He's the architect of his dreams, the arbiter of fate,
In the realm of the living room, he holds sway, innate.

But beware, O ye subjects, for power can wane,
As batteries falter and signals abstain.
Yet even in darkness, his reign is extolled,
For the Lord of the Remote Control never grows old.

So let us pay homage to this sovereign of ease,
Whose realm is the sofa, whose kingdom's at ease.
Long may he reign over channels untold,
The mighty Lord of the Remote Control.
