Lord, send me the words to write
Before I close my eyes this night,
To praise THEE in scan and rhyme,
As in verse I do ~ time after time.

LORD, open my mind to thoughts anew,
As daily I wish to praise YOU.
May I write poems YOU wish me to,
My pen ready to answer YOU.

LORD, open my heart to love YOU,
Keep me alive and free from pain,
That I may be faithful to
YOUR way of life ~ again and again.

When problems come that I need to solve,
Aid me with answers, Dear LORD,
That my life can carry on
And praise YOU daily in song.

Like King David who wrote the Psalms,
Give me the words for Poems to write,
In rhyme and scan I wish the verses to be,
As tonight I praise THEE.
