Lost Poem by Glen Miller

Lost

He knew his fate
He could not change.
Loneliness
Became his stage.

He lost his love,
Thus lost his life:
Presenting a struggle
To survive.

She was like a bird,
Wild and free.
No one could tame her-
Not even he.

He more than knew this
All too well.
He didn't let on
That it hurt like hell.

I admire his courage
And his nerve.
He wouldn't give up;
He wouldn't let go.

The day finally came
When he said goodbye.
His bird flew away.
He'd never know why.

It is a sad thing
To watch a man cry;
But I was his friend,
Therefore, I stood by.

He once stood on
The top of the world
By the girl of his dreams
With the might of a sword.

Sadly enough,
The saying is true:
Just because it does glitter
Doesn't mean it is gold.

It seemed that he
Had everything before him,
But push came to shove
And before him was no one.

The Abyss of the Lonely
Knows not a bound.
It consumes all of us
Without one sound.

It waits until no one
Is next to our side.
It sucks out our life
Until we do die.

My friend was not stupid:
He knew this path well.
He followed it for her
And condemned himself to Hell.

There is no reaching
That which is gone.
All that's left is their legacy-
Their works and their song.

His song rings out loudly
In harmony with hers:
Prooving Hell hath no fury
That can separate lovers.

So hold tightly to love
No matter the cost,
For if you let up,
Your love may be lost.
