Lost Poem by George Aul

Lost

Silent moments,
only my thoughts before me,
visions of yesterdays gone,
visions of lost love gone and never found.
The memories once clear,
now twisted and scarred with age.
How time slips away!
How life does, too!

Youth-impetuous and virile,
like worn-out clothing
no longer fits like a glove,
but the yearning never ceases.
Can I ever forget true love?
Do we ever get over broken love?
One chance seems so unfair,
a lifetime of haunting memories-
Will they ever fade?
Damn her! Damn me!
