Lost At Sea Poem by Cheryl Cheng

Lost At Sea

Rating: 5.0

I had a dream once
In this dream, I was afloat
On a lifeboat, or a dinghy perhaps.

I could see no land
I could hear no voices
Only the gentle lapping of the waves.

The boat never sank
The boat never drifted
The boat always had supplies.

Sometimes, something would surface
Appearing after a breaking wave
Something mysterious and sad

I would never be able to reach it
My oar was too short
And like a forgotten memory,
It soon sank under again

I had a dream once
In this dream, I was afloat
On a lifeboat, or a dinghy perhaps.

No one knew I was there,
No one knew I was gone
and no one looked for me.
