How did I came from the most respected poet
Into the most disgraceful poet in the school
Attacked one subject that was kind of touchy
Saying that our youth needs guidance and truth
But the truth can hurt and destroy the mind
So they told me to dumb down my beliefs
My thoughts of the world or the people around me
I’m not like I’m killing you physically but just mentally
Don’t let me explain but now people thinking its all ok
But job applications thrown down like garbage or junk
Infants being dropped off, thrown or even sold for money
What happen to being true parents or that’s cool too
Who can say what’s right or wrong about what I talk about
The 1st amendment burned right in my face as I got booed
Off the stage of an poetry slam because I talked to my race
About the world’s crisis and problems but still blinded by segregation
Or by Jim Crow’s laws… Damn you!
Confused of what I should be look at from the world’s eyes
Be respected for my knowledge and acceptation of change or
Be disrespected because I’m too young to know any better
Never felt the cold world’s blizzard hit my first pay check
From the economy or by the taxes or even the car note bill
It such a shame as all I’m doing is talking to the deaf
I shown them the truth but only to tell me that they are blind
Respected by the fellow scholars but disrespected by the ignorant
