Lost Engagement Poem by Arwa Bharmal

Lost Engagement

It is the first time I have cried in a long time.
I feel annoyed, frustrated and trapped.
When I met you I wanted to escape into your arms.
At the time I did not understand that feeling
So I stayed quiet and very calm.

Day by day it slowly grew into a desire that has now burst.
I now understand that enticed me into a thirst,
You awakened inside me what had slept for many years.
I searched all over to find similar peers.
You ended and began a search for meaning and life
And allowed me to embrace the open air and strive.
But You are my choice
and I decided it be you…

I wasn't myself when you were here
But it was not because of you!
I am never myself because I get lost
Turning on to the wrong path,
I can see from where I strayed
And glimpses of my return.
In the instant that I met you
I became the Arwa the world once knew
and she longs to spend her life with you…

She has not been around much
And is searching for her way,
I am here to tell you she will be back soon,
Wait for that day.
Hold her dear and never let go
See her stare and dream of the moon
He is still with etiquette in the sky
You will behold beside you
Then you will fly fly and fly…

What I am going through I am not sure,
Stand by me close and I will need no more.
I will get there patience and rest assured,
It will soon be over and we shall be victorious.
But for now blow out the burning candle light,
I bid you sweet dreams and a good night.
