Lost Love Poem by Freedom From Darkness

Lost Love

Rating: 4.0

I'm trying not to love you,
I'm trying not to care,
I'm trying not to live my life,
Wishing you were there

I'm trying not to wonder, about your dark brown eyes
And the way they looked into mine.
I'm trying not to dream, about your soft lips,
pressed to mine.

I try and try again to erase you from my mind.
I try to fill the hole in my chest, but nothing seems to fit.
Nothing but the heart I gave to you.
The heart you didn't care for,
The one you gave away and didn't miss.

I fell in love with you, while you fell out of love with me.

So moving. I can't go away from the spell of your diction. Thanks.

I just recently went through a situation frighteningly similar to what your poem describes. The last line struck me like the emotional hammer blow that struck my heart. Powerful words, heartfelt, painful. Fantastic.
