Lost Strength Poem by Abigail Hauschild

Lost Strength

Rating: 4.5

If only you knew my bravery was an act
Maybe then you'd offer me comfort
Yes, I'm a survivor
Yes, I'm a fighter
Yes, I used to be strong
But I'm not that girl anymore
I can no longer outrun my demons
I'm getting tired of fighting
I dream of what it would be like
To surrender to the shadows
I am a star
I either burn bright and hot
Or I explode into black nothingness
My longing to succumb to inky obscurity
Scares me most of all
When did oblivion become so tempting?
How long can I burn before this fire consumes me?
