Lost Your Last Name Poem by Lucas Pate

Lost Your Last Name

Temptation swirls, thick in the air
You meet it as if you were dared

Have you forgotten your last name?

The thought of wrong and right
Doesn't cross your mind at night
Your conscious never wins the fight

Have you forgotten your last name?

You never take time to step back
'I'm here for the here and now'
Thoughts of you future and past you lack

Have you forgotten your last name?

You have become so hollow
A man of sorrow
Your soul is soon to follow

Rediscover your last name
