Lotus Disrupted Poem by Mona Adviento

Lotus Disrupted

On tiptoed steps, you made your way
To that sun-lit patch that makes my day
Of mirth, of life, of camaraderie
You rode on the wings of proximity

You’ll never know how close you’ve come
So swift, so new, and then some., .
No clue, no hint what all these mean
I am still torn, undone by a seam

I mistake that twinkle in your eye
For stardust and dew, confused by a lie
For there’s nothing there but amusement, you see
We’re fascinated by each other’s spontaneity

Yet each day, it gets harder to extricate
These befuddling emotions of like- too late!
The bubble’s been broken, I breathe you now
My senses are inundated. Why this? And How? !

Don’t smile that smile- so disarming
I can’t say no-This is alarming.
I’m rooted to this place with your eyes
That pierces through my sun-coated wiles

Spare me the agony of falling for you
You’re not for me, I know that, too.
I’m far from ready to breach that wall-
Too tired from giving my heart, my all.

My nature’s taking over, I’ll have to stop
And change my hand, to stay on top
I’ve learned from time when reason fails,
We have to go blindly to blaze new trails.

Inside my head I seek the silence
That hums through my entirety with a disturbing cadence
I shall hold on till the phantoms cease
And bury my crystals and unheard pleas.

And you, Step back-you fill me to the brim
Yet your affections are a product of a mere whim
Away, I shall fly from thy atmosphere
Leave me to my reality. It’s safer here.
