In the place where i did dwell
i met a boy and loved him well
he sat a strange girl upon his knee
and told her things he never told me
i went to cry upon my bed
not a word to momma had i said
daddy came home late that night
and he searched for me from left to right
oh my daughter what have you done
you hang yourself for one mans son
he took a knife and cut me down
and in my pocket this note he found
dig a grave dig it deep
place marbel stone from head to feet
upon the stone place a dove
