Love Forever Lost Poem by Lora Colon

Love Forever Lost

Rating: 5.0

Now a sudden darkness falls upon me,
Though sudden, I'm not taken by surprise;
Remembering all the alibis you told me,
Remembering how I fell for all your lies;
I'll give the darkness back as I am leaving,
It's all I wish you as I say good-bye.

Faithful to the end, I stood beside you,
Until deceit and lies were all you shared;
Love and truth were all I ever offered,
But that's about to change, so be prepared!
The tide that brought my love to you is ebbing
And taking back this heart that really cared.

I was there for you through all your anguish,
You relied on me to ease the pain;
I'll no longer be there giving comfort,
You'll get nothing from me but disdain,
Now, feel the vengeful arrows I am thrusting
Into a heart that is worthless and profane

I want to see you caught up in the moment,
I want to see you stagger, and then fall,
You, who sipped the nectar of contentment
While I drank daily from the cup of gall;
I know at some point you'll invoke forgiveness,
But I won't be around to hear you call

Every day I gave you my devotion,
I watched you as the final bridge was crossed;
Lying words you said to me still linger,
Wrapped around my heart, etched in the frost;
Say good-bye to love that was worth keeping,
Now say good-bye to love forever lost!

A beautiful pome but so sad when love dies through deceitful lies. Once trust has gone out of the window love soon follows.

Powerfully expressed emotions. Heartfelt words, emanating from the bottom of the heart, and heavy.

An excellent poem Lora, love can only stand but so much. Even so when lies, distrust gets a foothold in relationships that trust is no longer there and then it begins to falter and crumble. Of course there is always hope is love is strong enough.

Very well written poem Lora, and the feelings expressed here are very strongly evident. Forgiveness does not always come easily when one has been deeply hurt, and this is entirely understandable.
