'Love Is A Reciprocal Commodity' As Inspired By Barbara Terry

'Love is a reciprocal commodity'
'If love is not returned, then it has never started'
Why must we suffer then as though it was etched in stone?
If love is not reciprocated, then what is the point?

In love when we are asked to jump, we asked how high?
Go jump in the lake and fate we nearly tempt
Maybe being a martyr is the style in the olden days
Not anymore in this internet age

Afterall 50 is the new 30 as you can see
I can still be as stunning and meet a man with a degree
So, watch your language and what you say to me
Or you'll find yourself and your laptop tossed out of the window in glee.

To: Barbara Terry - thank you for your inspirational words(from your comments on Acceptance - the inspiration behind this poem) , this is for you. Fondly, June.

awww thank you so much, June. This was very beautifully written, and is soooooo true too. Becauase if love is not returned then we are the only ones who love, and that is not a relationship, that is a reason to leave. When we become engaged, married, or just going steady, and we put our heart's desire out there for everyone to see, we expect the other person in the 'relationship' to do teh same. Yes I agree whole heartedly June, that love is a reciprocal commodity, which must be returned or their is no love. Thank you for sharing this wonderful poem. Hugs, Barbara
