Love Is A Water - Poem by Linda Galo

Love is a water that quenches the thirst
yet during this drought, I found you first
Few swim around while some dip their feet
most of them drown before the water is sweet
The wrong mixture is toxic, the right is a cure
together, there's never been water so pure
Never a water so full of devotion
until we came along and burst into an ocean
Storms and typhoons make us drift off and prune
I'll fight through the tempest to heal all your wounds
I promise to find my way back to you soon
The waves will push and the sea will roar
the water might not be so clear anymore
but the secret lies in
whether we sink or swim
so instead we dive in
where the waters are dark
protecting each other from sting rays and sharks
holding each other when the water is cold
and finding the treasures that stories have
of shipwrecks and diamonds and crowns of gold
inside of ourselves because it's you I behold
Love is a water, some wonder why
if ever we do, together we'll dry
