Love is like water
Sometimes it surges
Rushing through the mind
Washing all else away
And overwhelming it
With its sheer force
Sometimes it ceases
But for the slow fall
Of individual droplets
That slowly bore through
Our rocky hearts
Sometimes love is gentle
Slowly shaping us
Over time, our edges round
It bends itself to us
Yet slowly changes us
Sometimes love is persistent
Even against the hardest heart
A slow whirlpool
Drills into us a hole
Forces us to accept love
Sometimes love is life
Nourishing us
And giving us the strength to live
Clearing our minds
Becoming the source of existence
And always, love is like water
Leaving behind its mark
Even as a flood has passed
The damage remains
Even as droplets cease
They stain us with their footprint
And when love comes
It never leaves us the same
