Love Makes Me All Misty Eyed Poem by Gayathri Seetharam

Balassi Stanza (The Poet's Garret)
Love makes me all misty eyed

It is believed that this stanza form was used by the Hungarian poet Balint Balassi, who rationalised it from a three line form consisting of 19 syllables per line, and broke it up by the use of internal rhymes.
This evolved into a rhyme scheme as follows

I choose Poet Garret to write this Balassi stanza. But it differs from the definition in Vole Central.

My son, my only son, said Mom, you are going to turn fifty in one month (19 syllables)
I am going to get you a cake with fifty candles and (19 syllables)
And say, I am sold on old in my mom for you raised me right (19 syllables)
If I become an intellectual Adonis
I must say I am goodlooking but alas!
As I was saying to you, a tad slow in dexterity
But in some ways, the golden boy
Who is usually full of buoy
And with the charming arrogance of a 19 year old, he was amazed at our durability
I said that I could not imagine my husband being retired for he has always been classified
As busy ever since the day we got married 26 years ago and I was totally captivated
By his Ph.D student earnings of $1000 minus taxes and we had love to keep us in marital harmony right from the start and this has had for the larger part, my malleability and ductility.

Please note: The painting which has the source of inspiration as a The New York Times magazine picture, actually symbolises the US Civil Rights Bill and is a reflection of its relevance from 3 great souls, Martin Luther King Jr., John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson. But in this poem although the Easter Lily has Christian significance, is symbolic of the three of us in my family. I do hope that as these 3 souls did, we also will glorify the beautiful landscape of Canada.
