The woman's cancer had got worse;
She'd given all that she could give,
Her doctor said that very day:
"You have just eight more hours to live."
She hurried home to tell her spouse;
she had suspected all along.
"Please, Hon, " she begged, "Come hold me close!
Can we just make love all night long? "
But sometimes appetites are small;
it's like you've eaten too much food.
She couldn't coax him, not at all.
He said he wasn't in the mood!
She begged and pleaded, no avail,
which filled her heart with sorrow.
"Easy for you to say, " he said.
"You don't have to get up tomorrow! "

Kumarmani, my friend, thank you! Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I don't spend as much time on the web as I used to, and I have hundreds of comments to which I should respond..
You have a morbid sense of humor, but this is incredibly funny! What a fantastic punch line!
Brilliant last line. Great poem. " And neither do you, " she no doubt replied as she thumped him with a rolling pin.
