Love Me - When I'M Decrepit And Old Poem by Joseph T. Renaldi

Love Me - When I'M Decrepit And Old

Rating: 5.0

I'm asking a bothersome question, my darling,
A direct question I can not hold,
That arouses some anguish in my mind,
As the perils of life come and go.

Your love I know is still genuine,
As years go by, love can grow cold,
It is this that my boggled mind questions,
Will you love me when I'm decrepit and old?

Our time on earth will soon be short-lived,
And the church bells in the valley will be tolled,
But my heart shall know no unhappiness,
If you'll love me when I'm decrepit and old.

Down the highway of life together
We walked and lived side by side,
Hoping some bright day to fulfill our dreams,
Living in the countryside vast and wide.

When my hair becomes white and my body lame,
And my eye sight shall dimmer grow,
I would have to lean upon someone like you,
Through the lack - luster period of growing old.

I would ask of you a sincere promise,
Worth to me more than a hundred fold,
It is only this simple request, my darling,
That you will love me when I'm decrepit and old.
