Love Not At First Sight Poem by Dennis Go

Love Not At First Sight

Love not had I at first sight shown,
A friendly wind doth blow his breath.
He sees that thou be fairest at every sparkle
Unlike those whose first glance prevails.
I admit, the heart jumped not before.
Emotions still slumber, though mine I foresee
Knocking at doors of my companion
I opened it not, scare'st to see;
Too bitter that my heart thou break'est,
Too frightened to face the fears I hide
That thou reject my feelings spent
On you, you, and you alone.

Whichever moments I chose to be -
Yesterday, today, tomorrow; whenever be -
I say these words, but lo, I lied.
A hunger and thirst the feelings cherished
Remains unspoken till the very day I die.
The haunting relive these thoughts as always.
Me severed not, at close range I whither.
Too good to be true... Only in my dreams
Will I ever be loved by you.

Now cast me to the fire, I'll rise again.
Cast me to the sea and the shore will see my presence.
Never will I ignore someone so lovely,
Ne'er I resent an urge so true.
Thy portrait deserves a constant praise
Of beauty, grace and wit.
Loved not had I at first sight maybe,
But please receive my hand revived.
As stages show how stories flow
Let thy heart accept my longing.
Let mutual thoughts astound devotion
And fill in my heart's temperaments.
