Love's Lie

I said I liked you
You said you liked me too
I said I loved you
You said you loved me more
I said I could not live without you
You said with me you'd always stay
Then I put my arms around you

And then I watched you pull away

After
by Robert Browning

Take the cloak from his face, and at first
Let the corpse do its worst!

How he lies in his rights of a man!
Death has done all death can.
