Loving The Closed Curtains Poem by chris schwartz

Loving The Closed Curtains

Rating: 5.0

Keep your audition to yourself,
But, Babe, I wasn't acting.
This thing for you is real.
Can't do what I did back then
But I still know how I feel.
The damned cigarettes
And the alcohol,
Kept me warm,
‘For I found you.
Pretty sure I never would'a
Touched either one
But, Hell, man,
That's not on you.

You say we got time
Yeah, Hon,
We're blessed with that
But it's a fast ticking clock
Standing where I'm at.
Guess you can't see
Cause you are not me,
But the fast train to Hell,
Rides slowly,
Down the working man's path.

Kept my eyes out the windows
Waiting for you to
Come around,
I discovered a freak show,
And the kaleidoscope of
a clown.
But the solace of the chords
You strike
Was nowhere to be found,
Would wake up, wanting,
For the one thing I never had,
And that was you, babe.

You say we got time
Yeah, Hon,
We're blessed with that
But it's a fast ticking clock
Standing where I'm at.
Guess you can't see
Cause you are not me,
But the fast train to Hell,
Rides slowly,
Down the working man's path.

Hell, the Love Train's for real
It's trying its best,
Just to Heal.
I'm so glad I got you
Beside me
In the sidecar.

The nights nestled in your den
Playing songs, from Elton's "Way back when"
Just know I never, rehearsed,
Just to get to you.
No, my love,
I lived through the actors,
I had the curtains drawn
On my final scene,
Just to have a single moment
To love you.
