Lucky Poem by Joanna Hamilton

Lucky

Tears spill over
As I read the page -
The tale of what
Could’ve happened.

You’re so lucky,
God must love you
More than
Even I am able.

You are alive, yet barely
A breathing corpse
In a hospital gown
No longer moving.

A vegetable,
Brain-dead,
Or so the
Doctors say.

It could be worse
But it could be better
But still
You were so

Lucky.
