Lucky The People Poem by Francis Duggan

Lucky The People

So lucky the people who are not well known
One can say of them they have lives of their own
None for to applaud them and none to drag them down
As they live their quiet lives on their side of the town
Fewer people to judge them or their praises to sing
And this in itself can be quite a good thing
They remain as unknown to most people they meet
Few people do call them by name on the street
Feel lucky if few even know you by name
If you are one who live as a stranger to fame
Fewer people to laud you or unkind things of you to say
Your life is your own and you like it this way
Since you never yearn for wealth and renown
And are happy with your lot on your side of the town.
