Luscious Green Poem by Herbert Dry

Luscious Green

I am found where I don't want
to be
Lock and load and
follow me

Into the jungle luscious
green
Shake me hard is this
a dream

Lock and load keep
head down
Enemy in jungle they make
no sound

Ghost in the jungle moving
so quiet
Their weapons on ready
willing to fight

A hail of bullets like
never seen
Can't wait to leave this
jungle luscious
green

No time to stop against a
tree to lean
Need to set an ambush before
we are seen

Sitting down by the trail
to wait
Walking the trail they know
not their fate

Raising my weapon I fire
every round
The fire fight is over all lay
on the ground

This jungle luscious green now
turned red
Each trip into the jungle the
more I go the more
I dread

I can't wait to return to lawns
luscious green
And pursue the American
dream

Now turned red. Yes, life really has many faces.
