Taps A Bugle Plays Poem by Herbert Dry

Taps A Bugle Plays

Rating: 5.0

When you serve your country and you feel
so alone

Remember brave soldier it's to late to come
back home

You are an American soldier a warrior and a member
of a team

You risk your life day or night to protect
the American dream

You may be sent to a jungle or desert
sands

You are not alone with you others
take a stand

You will see the enemy fall you will your see
buddies die

With head in hand and tears filling
your eyes you will often
wonder why

Do we not know do we not understand that in
war many will die

Family and friends with broken hearts in
sorrow they cry

Standing in silence around a fallen soldier's
grave

On the field of battle a medic his life
tried to save

Now the silence is broken the honor guards
weapons are fired

A mother's heart is broken she looks
so very tired

A bugler stands alone taps he
begins to play

His bugle goes silent for now taps will be played
again on another day
