It’s time to harvest watermelons
I know, we’re all excited
Watermelon festivals are everywhere
And you and I are invited
Folks are bringing them together
To see which one’s the best
Perfectly grown and pampered
For the biggest watermelon contest
80 pounds the scales said
And oh, it looked so fine
The farmer grinning from ear to ear
For it came from off his vine
Carve ‘em up and serve ‘em
The contest now is done
Why, the folks from Spanish Cove
Want to gobble every one
It’s a day we’ve all waited for
‘Cause soon the season’s through
But for now we’re going to enjoy
As many as we can chew
We can cut them in wedges or slices
Make sorbet for a cool delight
Hollow them out and fill with fruit
We can eat them morning and night
So delicious and so tasty
We don’t need to have a reason
To eat the sweetest and the juiciest
Luscious fruit for the summer season!
