Lust & Envy Poem by Sara Ford

Lust & Envy

Succomb to all your base desires
That lead you to your troubled fate.
Bask amongst the faithless fires;
Chase virtue at a later date.

Expose yourself to wandering eyes
And feast upon delicious sin.
Return to all your precious lies
And dare release the beast within.

Let jealousy of them unfurl
And boil inside you day and night
When lover finds someone to curl
And coil up with within your sight.

The beast is choked into a rage,
When lacking the desired attention.
The creature trudges to its cage,
Buries its built-up, fiery tension.

It feels forgotten, cast aside,
Like yesterday's outdated toy.
Inside again the beast will hide
To ponder over short-lived joy.
