Madame Butterfly's Last Song Before Her Harakiri Poem by Suki Nakamura

Madame Butterfly's Last Song Before Her Harakiri

my little flower
it is better that you do not see me in this
most important quest of my life
you are so beautiful to see
honor plucked from a garden
of chrysanthemums
hear my song and be
strong
this is my father's dagger
sharpened through all the years
of my sorrow
waiting for the man who should have saved
me from shame
but shamed me now
more than all the shame i have inflicted on myself
on that day of our wedding
my little one
live, i have taken the choice
of honor
i must be gone
for good.
