When Jesus forgave Magdalene
The miracle happened; Magdalene forgave herself
And at once she was set free from the chaos of love
Multi-directed excess, striking notes discordant,
Celebrating flesh as the sole goddess to be celebrated
She poured forth perfume upon Jesus’ feet blest,
Wiped them reverentially with her hair most lovely
With single-minded devotion, recognizing Him as her sole Lord and Master
Yes, her love assumed direction, acquired the unique glow radiant
Melody concentrated in a single focus streamed forth
Love-lit, and all hideousness slid down forthwith
No wonder, in the Resurrected Morning the Lord greeted her first
