Maiden Poem by Rogerlene Blount

Maiden

To come face to face with
this fear she can’t escape
makes the blood in
her veins turn cold

The unbearable truth of
Death’s relentless pursuit
of her soul can no
longer be denied.

So stern is his voice when
he gives her the choice.
“Come willingly, or I’ll
take thee by force! ”.

Matters not where she
runs, matters not where
she hides. ‘Tis her fate
and God’s will be done.

What else can she do?
There is no one to turn
to. So she falls to
her knees and weeps.

Heavy-hearted, she submits
and accepts the cold
kiss that takes her
last breath away.
