Majorities Mostly Count Poem by Francis Duggan

Majorities Mostly Count

Even to so called democratically elected governments minorities don't count
Their voting power not great and to little does amount
In their policies the mostly conservative majority they try to pacify
To retain power at the next election on their votes they rely
Politics is all about winning power and little else more
The opposition members on political decision making are never to the fore
It is at government cabinet meetings that political decisions are made
Howls of protest from the opposition benches are quick for to fade
The majority voters always political elections decide
And loss of power to politicians is also loss of pride
It is a winners World as most would agree
This is how it is and it always will be
Even to political parties the majority voters mostly count
The voting power of the minority to little amount.
