Man-Sized Poem by Mason Maestro

Man-Sized

He's a life-sized
Marble bust
And who could name him
Who could frame him
Where's it going
Cast the carver
Just a stroke of chisel makes it airy,
Contemporary

A brief debrief of our bas-relief
With split leaf mid-relief
And a face of grief on high relief
He's man-sized, left side

Look at this
It's alabaster
Smooth and white
Use your flashlight
Looks like calcite

Three dimensions shall convey something
Artist's purview for a statue
Sourced from a Paros quarry
Gains the glory

Working is lowering, sobering
And bordering ordering smoldering soldering and molding
Unknown torso unearthed in Troy
Equipped with sword of copper alloy
Another sculptor sighed
It's a man-sized left side
